In the charge - As long as you aren't immediately next to a wall, it's very easy and predictable to dodge into the charge, at about 11 or 1 o'clock and get a medium combo off. Then get both arms to 1/4th health, kill one arm when he burries and the next when he charges. If you follow up with seesaw strike you'll automatically break the head at the end of your combo. With Kusa target the body, with Splitstaff the head. With Kusa/Split you can use high stance light when he burries snake arms to take about 1/2 to 3/4th snake arm health.

Every time you kill a snake arm you will deal a % damage to his health and rather than burst counter his charge I purposely baited as you can get a lot of free damage off it, so each time I murdered both arms before dark realm.ĭepending on your weapon/setup there's 2 ways. My most effective, without using soul cores (though you can add Ippon or others for more damage), I first achieved with Kusa.

I've found new ways and weapons to use which has made him one of my favorite bosses. There's actually a few valid strategies I learned after having to refight him in dlc/underworld. I just killed them individually by luring them away from the boss, and from each other (I had already used up my yokai form, which would have made this easier). I entered the second dark realm phase with two snakes alive, but I didn't panic. I did it a little earlier than I usually would. The burst counter is tricky but definitely doable. In both dark realm phases, I mostly just ran around the boss and burst countered or dodged his red charge attacks. It wasn't worth trying to attack his body unless I had just dodged a burst counter move, and he was charging away, torso exposed. When he got staggered and his head was exposed, I dealt a lot of damage. Almost always focused my attacks on his head or snake limbs. When I attacked his head during this maneuver, the spear usually hit both snakes.

Started sprinting away IMMEDIATELY when he buried, to avoid the two snakes from below. Went in to attack when he buried his snakes, running around him and dodging/blocking his ranged attacks otherwise. I failed the previous attempts because I didn't stick to this plan. Most of the fight was just me running around him and waiting patiently for his bury maneuver (see next point). Stayed at long range from him and ran around him continuously, blocking tail whips (don't try to dodge these) and dodging/blocking his ranged dart attacks. Hatchets and other stances didn't work well for me. Killed him with a spear, stayed in mid-stance and used the X attack. If you're having trouble, here's what worked (and didn't) for me: I went into my successful attempt with a straightforward plan and an expectation of a long fight that isn't particularly fun. I finally killed him because I stopped overthinking the encounter. He was the most frustrating boss I've encountered in a game in a long time.

It is crucial that Yatsu's attacks are avoided as they become a lot more powerful while in the Dark Realm.I'm a new player and I just beat Yatsu no kami (snake boss) after roughly 20 tries. It is also effective to take the snakes out with a bow from afar, but players must keep an eye on Yatsu if they attempt this. This will prevent the player from getting overwhelmed. When this happens players should shift their focus to the smaller snakes and try to kill them as quickly as possible. Upon doing so he will detach his snake arms and players will now have to fight three separate enemies. The fight will become much more difficult once Yatsu decides to enter the Dark Realm. The best thing to do here is just to run away from Yatsu and attempt to avoid the attack entirely. There is a very short window where a counter will work, and that window is even smaller if the player wants to do it without getting damaged. This ability is extremely annoying as it is the only attack that can be Burst Countered but is extremely difficult to counter. Yatsu will eventually try to use his charge attack as well. This will most likely kill lower leveled players. If Yatsu tries to use his grab attack, then the player should run as far away as possible. Yatsu will quickly deplete a player's Ki bar and leave them open to a lot of damage. Players should try not to block any of his attacks unless they have a massive amount of Ki. The best bet is to just not be close to him if the player can avoid it, but sometimes that isn't an option. If the player gets too close to Yatsu he will most likely try to use one of his physical attacks.
